The Breath of Gratitude
During the stress and exhaustion of the season, and amidst the turmoil of the world situations, take a moment.

Breathe in and speak silently, "I am blessed."
Breathe out and speak silently, "I am grateful."
Think about something you are grateful for in that moment.

Just as a pebble tossed in the water creates ripples, so too, when you inhale blessing while exhaling gratitude, this attitude of gratitude will create ripples out into the world around you, making yourself and your world a more positive, grateful and blessed place.

Let this season serve as a reminder to you that you can always be a ripple of gratitude in the world.

Full Moon in Gemini
Friday, 12 December 2008

This Gemini Full Moon will feel even more speedy than usual. Gemini rules our thoughts and speech, and by extension, networking and sociability. Though this is generally a lighthearted and open-minded Full Moon, this year a very intense grand square will bring a level of seriousness to the usual end of the year parties/activities you may have planned. Gemini is the consummate networker, so get on the phone, email, social networking sites, etc., and do some heavy-duty networking. The Full Moon in Gemini is supposed to be a time of freely speaking one’s mind; but watch out, with Mars conjunct Sagittarius putting one’s foot in one’s mouth may be hard to avoid. The grand square will challenge us to look fear straight in the eye and play with the possibility of changing our fixed ideas about how everything we think we believe is true. Think… meaning questioning the validity of our thoughts as truth; believe meaning allowing the free-flowing energy of the Moon in Gemini to loosen our attachment to codified, dogmatic truths. Above all, be social. Don’t sit home in isolation. This is a Full Moon for changing your mind! The Gemini Full Moon is a great night to go through Christmas decorations or get busy making Yule logs for Solstice. Use the openness of a Gemini Full Moon to talk back to tradition by being free-flowing and inventive. Get creative and let your mind run wild! Try giving something made from the heart, or in Gemini lingo “gift that really communicates who you are.” Gemini rules writing and information. This is a great night to share in public something you have been working on in secret. A Full Moon in Gemini helps us feel like trying anything. So take a chance and get out to an open-mike performance or poetry reading. But no matter how you decide to experience this Full Moon in Gemini, get out there and have some fun! ~ Lisa Dale Miller Read more here : http://www.astrowisdom.com/moonmessages.htm

TarotScopes by HiC
December 2008

A note on reading these TarotScopes. If you have had your astrological natal chart done, then you can use your sun, rising and moon signs to get a more well rounded sense of your month. Your rising sign is how you act in the world. Your sun sign indicates your ego/self-identity as well as your deepest goals and wants in life (or, in this case, the primary goals and desires for the month). Your moon sign is your emotional self, how we respond emotionally and what we feel. Combine the TarotScopes for all three of those, and you get a much clearer picture of the energies affecting you for the month and the areas in which those energies will be most prevalent. If you only know your sun sign, that's fine and you can just go with that. If you would like to know your other signs, then I would suggest that you simply visit a website (it's free! 8) such as www.astro.com.

ARIES
2 of Swords

How are you blinkering yourself ? Don't rush to conclusion or action as you may not know all of the information or be able to see all of the picture. The 2 of Swords counsels you to play mediator and peacemaker, to avoid taking sides and, instead, to give all sides their chance to be heard. You may feel torn between opposing factions or seemingly opposite options. Perhaps a split decision might be best rather than it having to be one or the other (to the detriment or loss of the one not chosen). In soccer, a game can end tied, which means there doesn't always have to be a winner or a loser in order for there to be a conclusion reached. It may be best to put off a decision for the moment. But you may also have to examine a tendency to resist and put off making necessary decisions out of a desire to always play the middle and never upset anyone or anything. Be willing to take off the blinders and truly see and hear what the situation has to offer. Be careful of those things that you may be actively trying not to see or face or deal with to the point that you are skewing your decision making in ways that is not best or most productive, but rather, most convenient for avoiding certain areas and actions that may be uncomfortable but necessary to deal with.

TAURUS
II The High Priestess
Reversed

What hidden wisdom is being revealed to you ? When the High Priestess appears reversed, it can often indicate that there is no longer anything hidden or being kept from view. What you see is what you get, is how it is. This can also portend a time when things that were previously unknown, hidden, secret or unable to be discerned are revealed. So pay attention and be prepared to acknowledge and act upon these revelations rather than letting them go unnoticed. A greater sense of clarity about a situation or direction may come about this month for you. The High Priestess is a card of the intuition, and when reversed, it can suggest that there may be fear or resistance around listening to and acting upon one's own intuition. Perhaps there is too much weight and importance being placed in what others think and have to say rather than listening to and trusting the guidance of your own inner voice. This is also a highly spiritual card. And when reversed, it can often indicate that there may be a need to reconnect with your spiritual side or a spiritual practice that has been lost or set to the side. Be willing to stop, listen and be receptive to the wisdom that wants to come to you. Be still and hear what your inner voice has to say rather than drowning it out with over thinking, too much talking, or letting too many outside voices overwhelm you and and the wisdom your own inner voice has for you to hear.

GEMINI
Page of Swords

What is exciting your curiosity right now ? When the Page of Swords appears, it is often a good time for investing in learning something new. It is also a time when our curiosity and need to know is at a peak. Let this be a month in which you give freedom to your intellectual pursuits, taking in new information, coming up with new ideas, finally signing up for that class about a subject you've always wanted to learn about. Information may come in unexpected forms or from unexpected directions, so don't be so focused on one thing or one way that you don't notice another more interesting, compelling or viable way that is trying to get your attention. Procrastination and a lack of focus can sometimes be a struggle during a month when the Page of Swords appears, do stay conscientious about not getting too easily distracted from what you are doing or what needs to be done. The mantra for the Page of Swords is, "Why ?" Make that an important way of approaching things this month, because it is a necessary question, and one that can both lead to amazing discoveries and new ways of thinking as well as avoiding unnecessary actions and decisions before time, energy and resources have been spent. Think outside the box this month rather than sticking with the tried and true.

CANCER
King of Swords
Reversed

In what ways or situations are you allowing emotion and subjectivity to get in the way of good judgement and discernment ? Be careful this month that logic and reason are not being forgotten for the sake of wishful thinking. When the King of Swords appears reversed, it can often indicate a lake of well thought out decisions and actions, so try to avoid rushing to conclusions, action for the sake of doing something without any clear cut plan or method. If possible, avoid any serious or important decision making during this month as there may not be an ability to think clearly, objectively, or have all the information needed to make a well-informed decision. The King of Swords is all about control, and when reversed, it can suggest that perhaps one might be micromanaging situations and exhibiting the behaviour of a control freak moreso than someone who has things properly under control. Examine where you might be overcompensating in the realm of control as a way of not wanting to feel out of control. This card reversed can offer a great lesson in letting go of the need for control and realising that things can be okay (if not better) when we don't try to control every little thing and person all of the time. Relax...let go...enjoy...give in. Let someone else make the decisions. At its most serious indication, the reversed King of Swords could indicate the effect or presence of someone who is controlling and abusive. It is time to face the reality of this and do something about it rather than making excuses for them and for the situation and continue to subject yourself to such out of control anger and violent outbursts. Stop rolling over and taking it, and start to find the strength and necessity to stand up for yourself.

LEO
2 of Cups
Reversed

Who, what or where does the attraction not seem to have the pull it once did on you ? When the 2 of Cups appears reversed, it can signal the separation of a relationship (be it romantic, friendship, or anyone or anything else we might have a relationship to) that no longer seems to have the connection it once did, or that doesn't seem to be meshing and flowing together easily and comfortably. This is a card that can indicate it is time to accept the lack of connection and potential rather than drowning ourselves in our attempts to try and try and try to make something work. Sometimes, because this is such a strong card upright, it can indicate a conflict or rift in a relationship that needs to be tended to and healed, which it can be with the proper amount of nurturing and attention. This may also be a month in which a relationship from the past re-enters your life in some way. Pay attention to that and take heed, see how things have changed and what might be different and possible now. There may be a falling out or a lack of compatibility that needs to be acknowledged as all attempts and possibilities have been drained and exhausted. Stop investing in something emotionally that does nothing but cause you to be emotionally drained. The concern is that a relationship is more on a sort of collision course rather than being able to happily and productively co-exist in each other's orbits. Don't let gravity cause things to crash and burn before taking action.

VIRGO
Knight of Swords

What battle or conflict do you need to join; what cause do you need to become an activist for ? The Knight of Swords indicates that it is time to start taking action on the ideas and plans that have been gestating. Be willing to do what is necessary and to charge head on into the battle, because the Knight of Swords says that you are more than ready and prepared to meet whatever challenges, conflicts or struggles you may encounter. So there is no need to put off setting things in motion any longer. Your greatest weapon and skill is in the realm of communication. Use it to get your ideas across, to make your voice heard, to motivate others into action for your cause. It's true that the Knight of Swords can indicate a month in which there may be conflicts and fights to deal with. Remember that you can stand your ground and make your point without necessarily having to slay the enemy. There is a caution against rushing into things without thinking, but better to take action and push ahead rather than hesitate or put off when the Knight of Swords appears. Just be aware that there may be some dodges, adjustments and pieces to pick up. This is not a time for worrying about the reactions of others as a result of you needing to speak and stand by your truth and principles. And perhaps it is time to put action behind your words and ideas by getting politically active or truly committing to and taking up a cause that has been one you have felt strongly about. Become an activist, become a proponent, be willing to fight for the defenceless, be the voice of the disenfranchised.

LIBRA
6 of Wands

How have you achieved success and recognition ? This is your time to shine as the 6 of Wands is the card of success and victory. This is a culmination of efforts and energies that are now all fusing together to light up the world with the achievement and accomplishment of a job well done. Savour the victory and revel in the acknowledgement and recognition. You are likely to be honoured or rewarded for your work and efforts this month. Don't be shy, and don't be afraid of the spotlight. Step up and take a bow, because you deserve it. It's time for you to step into the spotlight and perhaps take on a role of greater leadership or responsibility. You're up to the task, so don't sell yourself short or let this opportunity go to someone else. Keep in mind that you can't rest on your laurels, so this is simply one victory of many. Now is not the time to stop or become complacent, but to use the energy and momentum to propel you and motivate you to future accomplishments and greater victories. Be prepared to shine, and be ready for your opportunity to step into the spotlight. This is your time !

SCORPIO
3 of Swords
Reversed

What painful emotion(s) are going unacknowledged ? One the one hand, the reversed 3 of Swords can indicate the conclusion of a healing process (likely long and painful) so that we are now able to finally be able to forgive, forget, let go and move on to what life holds for us next. It's the mending of the broken heart. On the other hand, the 3 of Swords indicates an active denial and repression of pain, loss, grief and sorrow because we've convinced ourselves that it's best to just not go there (or we think we wouldn't be able to handle it). Either way, this is a card that teaches us the importance of simply have to acknowledge, face, and be with our pain in order to process it, heal it and move forward. If you've been doing this, then know that you are near the end of your healing process and you are coming into a more mature and healthy emotional state of being. If, instead, you've been using denial and avoidance to not have to deal with pain, then this card reminds you that this approach is likely to simply make things worse and keep you feeling emotionally out of sorts and as if you can't seem to get on with your life and be happy again. A huge component of this card is the need for forgiveness, of yourself and of others, along with the forgetting part so you can then leave the pain and what caused it in the past rather than carrying it around like an open wound that never heals and gets infected, causing greater and more severe complications down the road. Trust that healing can take place...but only once you are willing to face and be present with the pain rather than pretending that you can just wait it out long enough and it will just magically go away all by itself.

SAGITTARIUS
4 of Wands

What two aspects of your life have been successfully integrated ? This is a time for celebration and bringing people together (especially family and loved ones) to honour that which has been accomplished. Are those marriage bells ? The 4 of Wands is a traditional card for marriage, the celebration of a union with those people who are important to us in our lives. Things seem to be stabilising and coming together, acknowledge that, respect that, celebrate that. This is a card of participation, so it can show a month in which it seems as if all the various aspects and forces in a situation are coming together in a spirit of cooperation to participate in the creation of something that could never be accomplished or achieved on an individual level. Utilise resources available to you by bringing them together and combining their energies and forces into a unified goal and vision. Let this be a time of unity, the clearing up of old or ongoing disagreements (even if it's agreeing to disagree), the bringing together of people for celebrations and reunions.

CAPRICORN
Queen of Pentacles
Reversed

How are you not mothering yourself ? The Queen of Pentacles reversed can indicate that something still needs time to gestate rather than it being time for it to come into being. Don't rush the process towards a premature birth, which can have not only immediate but also future complications and an early death. One thing to be focused on when the Queen of Pentacles is reversed is the health of a mother or mother figure. The reversal can indicate a "reversal" in a health situation that can be anywhere from something that needs immediate attention to the giving up and failure of the physical body completely. What are you not doing that you need to be doing or keep avoiding doing ? You may experience a loss or downturn on the material realm (finances, job, environment) this month. Be prudent. But this is generally result of being in an environment or surrounded by people/things that are no longer healthy or have served their purpose and no longer have anything to offer you. The reversed Queen of Pentacles often indicates that it is time to move, change environments, that what you need or what you are seeking cannot be found where you are but, instead, can only be found elsewhere. Stop waiting for it to come to you, and start venturing out to find it. This can be a card of all give or all take, so remember this month to receive gratefully and to give generously. Reconnect with the natural world. Make it a priority to go inward, doing more introspective and spiritual work, rather than simply focusing on the external and material aspects of life.

AQUARIUS
XIII Death

What do you need to let go of ? Embrace change. The Death card is one of transformation and rebirth. This is a month for overcoming the resistance to letting go of those those things that no longer serve us, are a part of us, or reflect who we are and who are becoming. Endings can be painful, and we often fight to not have to let go of something because our attachment to it gives a sense of definition. But when that definition becomes old and outdated, what purpose does it really serve and what does it really give us other than fear of the unknown as regards what might replace it ("Who will I be ? What will I do ? Where will I end up ? How will I be happy without that ?"). But we underestimate the power of change (and, often, the inevitability of it) and the transformative power it can hold for us as concerns how much more amazing we and our lives might be if we simply allow it take place. Let this be a month when you really examine what you are holding on to out of fear and desperation rather than need and relevance, and then be willing to thank it for what and how it has served you on your life's path, then let it go and leave it to rest in peace. Stop carrying around dead weight. Clear the clutter and get rid of the old to make way for the new. Believe in the possibility of the new to be even more amazing and wonderful rather than clinging to the fear that the new will be horrible and miserable. And yes, this can even apply to physical death. Embrace change. What do you need to let go of ?

PISCES
XI Justice

What truth do you need to face ? Balance and understanding are emerging out of the confusion and muddle this month. Even though it may not be pleasant or what we might have wanted, the Justice card comes along when it is time for us to face the Truth. This can be a time for committing to living your Truth and doing what is right and true for you in your life in order to regain a sense of balance and purpose. Don't be afraid any longer to take up the sword and forge your true path and purpose, cutting away those people, things, relationships and situations that don't serve that Truth any longer. This is a time for objectivity, honestly, clarity of thought and purpose. Use right judgement and fairness towards yourself and others. The Justice card can suggest that a legal matter of some sort may come out in our favour, but it will be a fair and just ruling rather than a subjective and punitive one. Do what is right, not what is expected. Speak what is true, not what is wanting to be heard. Hear what is said rather than what you want to hear. A rational and balanced approach is called for this month rather than all or nothing, balls to the wall approach. Judge not lest ye be judged. Seek the Truth rather than settling for the easy sales pitch. Strive for Ma'at in all things and in all ways.
